The Essential Statement Necklace

Mama always says that a woman wearing a statement necklace is ready to change the world. If you don’t already have one, I suggest that you get one (or a whole chest full) right this moment. I cannot guarantee you that your necklace will get you promoted to CEO, but it could. Here are just a few reasons that the statement necklace should be a staple of every woman’s wardrobe.

  1. They can help you express your personality: A statement necklace does just that; it makes a statement. With an endless array of necklaces to choose from, you are bound to find one that is the necklace version of your personality. Are you a classic gal? Go for one with elegant gemstone cuts and colors. Are you an edgy, city chic? Go of one primarily made of metal tones and studs. A girly girl? Go for one with gemstone flowers.
  2. They can make an outfit go from drab to fab, or at least make make it acceptable: Your parents are stopping by for a surprise visit? No problem! Grab your nearest statement necklace to convince them that you actually have your life together, and that you actually do not spend a frightening amount of time watching Netflix. For early starts, throw one on over a boring gray sweater and your Monday outfit suddenly looks chic rather than boring.
  3. They can cover up last night’s bad decisions: When you wake up on Sunday morning to a ghastly alarm after a long night of sipping sangria with the girls (or drinking vodka soda and dancing on elevated surfaces with the girls), chances are you have a pretty bad hangover. The last thing you want to do is get out of bed and get ready for brunch with the wretched women that your boyfriend’s “bros” are dating. You can’t show up visibly hungover, they would never stop talking about it. You can’t just cancel, they’ll whisper rumors of your “drinking problem” to their own friends while sipping sangria. What you can do is throw on a simple, solid dress, a statement necklace, and your favorite Gucci sunglasses. This look will take you about seven minutes to complete, including a simple face of makeup, because you do not really need any with such an elegant necklace and large glasses hiding the bags under your eyes. When you get to the country club, get seated on the patio so that you can “watch the men tee off” (*keep your shades on*). Later, triumphantly laugh at how clearly hungover the other women were over sangria with your friends.
  4. They help you leave an impression on people: The right necklace can make you more memorable than all of the others wearing business casual at work. Maybe it’s just me, but my eyes are naturally drawn to shiny things and I always remember a good necklace. Almost every time I wear a statement necklace, regardless of what my outfit looks like, someone makes a remark about it. If you look your best, you will feel your best, which in turn gives you a boost of confidence. Seriously, it could help you land that job that you have been wanting.
  5. They make you look classier than you already are: This one doesn’t need an explanation.

A word of warning: Be careful with the power of the statement necklace. Its effects can depend on the statement the wearer wishes to make. “There are two kinds of women, those who want power in the world and those who want power in bed.” -Wise words spoken by former first lady, Jackie Kennedy. Remember them when you are deciding what dress to pair with your statement piece, and choose what suits your purpose!

So what are you waiting for? Start using the power of the statement necklace to your advantage, whatever it may be. Let it help your confidence bloom and get out there and change your world!
